I provide therapy for individuals and couples who wish to make long lasting positive changes in their lives. I offer safe, compassionate and supportive counseling in an atmosphere that deepens understanding and promotes healing.
My style of therapy is active, positive, empathic and respectful of personal values and lifestyles. In my work, I explore and validate each individual’s emotions and relational needs, and respond genuinely to them. I approach the therapy session as a healing place where a corrective emotional experience can happen, and it is that process that is the method of therapeutic change.
I am experienced working with individuals and couples at all stages of life, including those who have different sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs.
I received a Master of Counseling Psychology degree from ASU (Arizona State University), graduating with honors. I also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California in Santa Barbara.
I specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Experiential Therapy, Trauma & Grief Work.
Leading couples workshops has always been a passion of mine. After extensive training with Dr. Sue Johnson in EFT, I have proceeded over the last ten years to offer, facilitate and lead Hold Me Tight® workshops nationally and internationally in NYC, Israel, South Africa and other locations.
Among the many issues I treat are:
Relationships, Marriage and Dating
Selecting a partner and self defeating behaviors
Premarital Counseling
Accessing Emotions, Communication and Connection.
Infidelity and Loss of Trust.
Divorce and Separation.
Grief
Life Transitions with Dignity and Respect
Adjusting to parenthood and parenting issues.
Stress Management
Self Esteem
Panic and Anxiety
Mood disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, adjustment disorders and post-traumatic stress
I have trained extensively with the leading counseling experts in the United States. These include the Milton Erickson Foundation, Drs. John and Julie Gottman who created Scientifically Based Marital Therapy, and Drs. Ellyn Bader and Pete Pearson, learning their Developmental Couples Therapy.
With this training as a foundation, I now study with Dr. Sue Johnson and her associates. Dr. Johnson is the creator and leading practitioner of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
The practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy, (EFT), is rooted in understanding attachment theory in adults relationships, and has led Dr. Sue Johnson to develop a model and a map to understand, navigate, and help adult romantic relationships.
I have done extensive training with ICEEFT (International Center of Excellent Emotionally Focused Therapy), and I am in the process of becoming a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist.
I am also licensed and trained EMDR and CBT.
I have additionally completed hypnotherapy and experiential therapy training with the Milton Erickson Institute.
I am a workshop leader with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples and groups. I also serve on the Crisis Intervention Team as a Mental Health professional at Burning Man.
I look forward to working together,
